In the early 1960s, NSK established a sales office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, which was the first step in establishing and operating overseas business locations. 1970 saw the establishment of a production site outside São Paulo, Brazil, followed by new production sites in North America, the UK and Asia. In 1990, NSK acquired UPI, which owned RHP, the largest bearing manufacturer in Europe. The NSK production bases and sales outlets spanning the entire European market are further consolidating NSK's dominant position in the European market. Since the mid-1990s, NSK has accelerated its business expansion in China and Asia, particularly in the rapidly growing Chinese market, and has established a full range of management systems from in-house research and development to sales and technical services.
